As the Indoor Tanning Association stated in its recent press release:

“Media reports comparing indoor tanning to toxins like mustard gas, cigarettes, and arsenic are outrageously overhyped. The same “group 1” category includes red wine, salted fish, and regular sunlight -- so these sensational headlines are as absurd as saying ‘A glass of merlot is as deadly as mustard gas.’”

The encouraging part is, the issue of sunlight and vitamin D is becoming a hot topic, and new studies and articles are appearing all the time.

Michael F. Holick of the Boston University School of Medicine stated:

“The sun has been demonized for years and as a result, people have avoided any direct exposure to sunlight. I think that’s the wrong message.”

Read and Watch the video here - http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2009/08/18/Are-Tanning-Beds-Really-as-Dangerous-as-Arsenic-and-Mustard-Gas.aspx
Swine Flu is NOT the Problem -- It is the Vaccine that May Harm or Kill You

Article By Dr. Mercola

You’ve probably noticed the escalating hype and hysteria surrounding the swine flu pandemic as colder months approach and the number of worldwide cases climbs.

It’s true the virus is spreading.

Much more important, however, is the fact that reported cases continue to be symptomatically mild, requiring little or no medical intervention. And deaths from the H1N1 virus remain extremely low, at less than one half of one percent of reported cases as of July 6

Despite this fact, the United States has committed to spending another $1 billion on ingredients for an H1N1 vaccine, according to U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, with plans for a mid-October vaccination program intact.

Plans are also underway to implement vaccine programs around the world. Poorly functioning feet are not only unpleasant to look at, they often smell and frequently hurt. More importantly, they're frequently associated with such problems as knee, hip, back and neck pain. Even headaches can come from feet that don't function well.

Foot trouble is nothing new. A course manual written back in 1932 by world famous foot specialist Dr. William Mathias Scholl found seven out of every 10 people had painful feet, citing shoes as a major source of the problem. A brief review of medical statistics from any branch of the military, in virtually any country indicates that for as long as soldiers have been lacing their boots, they have had foot troubles.

With so many people suffering from problems with their feet, you might wonder whether the foot was one of evolution's few architectural booboos. I don't think so.

The foot is a complex, beautifully designed shock-absorbing system. Any traveler to a third-world country will tell you that bare feet are completely normal. Items such as foot pads, powders and insoles for sale at the chemists are as rare as a Moa and the word "orthotic" is as foreign as microwave oven!

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2005/07/26/foot-race.aspx

Two Dietary Oils, Two Sets of Benefits

A study comparing how two common dietary oil supplements -- safflower oil and conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) -- affect body composition suggests that both oils can lower body fat in obese postmenopausal women with type 2 diabetes.
In the study, 16 weeks of supplementation with safflower oil reduced fat in the trunk area, lowered blood sugar and increased muscle tissue in the participants.

Conjugated linoleic acid supplementation for the same length of time, on the other hand, reduced total body fat and lowered the women's body mass index (BMI), a common health measure of weight relative to height.

All of the women in the study took one oil for 16 weeks, followed by the other oil for an equal amount of time.

Read Dr Mercola's Comments here - http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2009/07/21/Two-Dietary-Oils-Two-Sets-of-Benefits.aspx

The Girl Who Doesn't Age

Brooke Greenberg is the size of an infant, with the mental capacity of a toddler. She turned 16 in January.
Scientists are fascinated by Brooke’s case. Although there are other children who fail to grow or develop in some way, Brooke's case may be unique.
Brooke hasn't aged in the conventional sense -- her body is not developing as a coordinated unit, but as independent parts that are out of sync. She has never been diagnosed with any known genetic syndrome or chromosomal abnormality that would help explain why.

Continue reading here - http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2009/07/11/The-Girl-Who-Doesnt-Age.aspx
5 Powerful Reasons to Eat More Slowly

Many people rush through the day, with no time for anything. When they have time to get a bite to eat, they gobble it down. That leads to stressful, unhealthy living.
Here are some reasons you should consider the simple act of eating slower:

Lose weight. A growing number of studies confirm that just by eating slower, you’ll consume fewer calories -- in fact, enough to lose 20 pounds a year without doing anything different or eating anything different. It takes about 20 minutes for your brain to register that you’re full. If you eat fast, you can continue eating past the point where you’re actually full.

Enjoy your food. It’s hard to enjoy your food if it goes by too quickly. Make your meals a gastronomic pleasure, not a thing you do rushed, between stressful events.

Continued here - http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2009/07/09/5-Powerful-Reasons-to-Eat-More-Slowly.aspx
Vaccine Doctor Given at Least $30 Million Dollars to Push Vaccines

Dr. Paul Offit of the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia earned at least $29 million as part of a $182-million sale by the hospital of its worldwide royalty interest in the Merck Rotateq vaccine. The amount of income distributed to Offit could be as high as $46 million. Offit has refused to say how much he made from the vaccine.

The high price placed on the patents raises concerns over Offit’s use of his former position on the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) to help create the market for rotavirus vaccine -- effectively, to vote himself rich.

Offit’s claim to a share of the profits from Rotateq revenues is based on his role as a listed inventor on the cluster of patents that protect Merck’s vaccine. Paul Offit had a great personal interest in Rotateq’s commercial success, and more than any other individual in the world he found himself in a position to directly influence that success.

Unlike most other patented products, the market for mandated childhood vaccines is created by the recommendation of an appointed body, ACIP. From 1998 to 2003, Offit served as a member of ACIP.

continue reading here - http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2009/06/25/Vaccine-Doctor-Given-at-Least-30-Million-Dollars-to-Push-Vaccines.aspx
Your Diet Can Reduce Your Risk of Prostate Cancer

A new review assessed whether certain modifications in diet have a beneficial effect on the prevention of prostate cancer. Results suggest that a diet high in fruits and vegetables is beneficial in preventing and treating the cancer.
Researchers conducted an evidence-based review of dietary recommendations in the prevention of prostate cancer as well as in the management of patients with prostate cancer.

The consumption of tomatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, green tea, and vitamins including Vitamin E and selenium seemed to lead to a decreased risk of prostate cancer. Consumption of highly processed or charcoaled meats seemed to be correlated with prostate cancer.

Continue reading here - http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2009/06/27/Your-Diet-Can-Reduce-Your-Risk-of-Prostate-Cancer.aspx

Is it True The More You Sleep, The Longer You Live?

“Sleep is the most undervalued contributor to optimal health and performance,” says Dr. Keith Humphreys, professor of psychiatry at Stanford University. Dr. Humphreys does research in addiction treatment, and national mental health and drug policy. He has written for the New York Times and other publications.
Many people have no idea that getting enough sleep is essential for helping them stick to a diet, making their workouts more productive, or boosting their immune system in general.

When it comes to dieting, leptin and ghrelin are the two hormones that regulate appetite, and are adversely affected by sleep deprivation. Ghrelin, which is produced in the stomach, signals to the brain when it’s time to eat. Leptin, on the other hand, is secreted by fat tissue and has the reverse effect, signaling when you are full.

Chronic lack of sleep increases ghrelin, making you feel hungry when you don’t really need to eat, and decreases leptin, urging you to keep eating although you’ve already gotten all the calories you need.

The deep sleep state is also the time during which your body repairs itself, including your sore biceps, which benefits your workout routine.

Making a habit of sleep deprivation comes with a heavy price tag. A nine-year study of nearly 7,000 Alameda County residents, found that those who routinely slept six or fewer hours a night had a 70 percent higher risk of dying (in the same age groups) than did those who slept seven or eight hours per night.

Read Dr. Mercola's Comments here - http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2007/09/20/the-more-you-sleep-the-longer-you-live.aspx

Are You Using Pill?

Did you ever tried using birth control pills or any other pills?
